Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! I’ve been on vacation from blogging for a few weeks but I’m back and ready to educate! Today I’ll be discussing one of skin care’s FAVORITE ingredients; Vitamin C.
Some skin care trends only stick around for a little bit but Vitamin C is the skin care trend that we can’t seem to let go of, and for good reason.

In addition to helping to build our immune system, Vitamin C has a variety of benefits that can help you in your daily life.
1) Younger looking skin!
Did you know that vitamin C actually assists in collagen production? Collagen is what gives our skin its strength and youthful “bounce”. Our skin’s collagen production begins to slow down around the age of 25, so keep up your vitamin C intake and keep your skin looking 10 years younger!
2) Goodbye age spots!
Vitamin C is one of the base ingredients in most anti-aging products. This ingredient contains properties that will actually hinder melanin production. Melanin is what gives skin our color. As with tanning, the sun causes skin to boost melanin production, which can lead to dark spots also called age spots. Vitamin C slows the production on melanin leading to less dark spots.
3) First Aid!
Believe it or not, Vitamin C actually can help heal small wounds quicker. As an immunity booster it can help fight off bacteria and lead to a quicker healing process. Some inflamed acne can be calmed down with a little vitamin C serum.
4) UV Protection!
As Vitamin C slows inhibits melanin production caused by UV rays, not only is this super ingredient saving us from dark spots but it’s also saving us from sun damage that could lead to more serious issues such as burns and even skin cancer. You should always wear SPF when exposed to UV rays but adding a little Vitamin C into your routine will help boost the effects of the SPF. Remember; sun exposure is the leading cause in premature aging, so anything you can do to stop that is a MUST.
Vitamin C is an ingredient that is found in many of our favorite fruits and veggies but can also be found in some cleansers, toners, and moisturizers. it’s at its highest concentration when applied as a serum.
For the best use of your C serums;
Dispense a dime size amount onto your finger tips and warm it on your fingers before applying to your face
Be sure to press the serum into the skin and do not rub it. Pressing it into the skin allows the serum to achieve its full affect.
Use a jade roller in an upward and outward motion for deeper product penetration.
Allow the serum to settle into the skin for 1-2 minutes.
Follow with your moisturizer to lock in that Vitamin C.
I’ll be starting to post every other week now instead of weekly. Stay tuned for more content and if you have any questions, as always feel free to contact me!
